 Shield. Kikuyu. Kenya. No 94. XI.M.5. Original list: "Kikuyu. Shield. Wood, buffalo leather, paint. Man, warrior, elder". Polychrome, elliptical, skin shield (buffalo skin?). The skin is stretched and then fixed on a wooden frame by means of leather ties. The vertical axis, inside the shield, forms a handle in its center, for gripping the assembly. The wood has a red patina. The outer surface of the shield displays an ornamental composition in hourglass (red) serrated (white).
