Stick. Kikuyu. Kenya. No 109. XI.M.4. Original list: "Kikuyu. Staff. Wood. Witchdoctor" Carved stick, club-shaped. Dark patina. Upper part swollen but flattened on one side; then finely chiseled with geometric patterns. Sticks of this type were used by healers. They were affixed to the foreheads of patients suffering from headaches. See "Traditional method of treating headaches amongst the Kikuyu" (Lagat, Hudson. 2006: 51)
