Necklace. Pokot. Kenya. No 51. XIV.C.5. PCK 68 Light brown, thick, wavy necklace; characterized by a multitude of rows of vegetable pearls (calabash, reed or asparagus stem) superimposed, kept loose by leather bars arranged vertically at four cardinal points. Necklaces of this type were worn by young Pokot girls who have not yet been circumcised. "Collars of incised water reeds or asparagus stems worn by uncircumcised Pokot girls" (Donovan. 2005: 125).
