Necklace. Meru. Tharaka. Kenya. No 52. Original list: "XII.V.1.Tharaka. Necklace. Plant fiber, landsnail shell. Woman" Necklace made from three wooden rods held tight by vegetable rope and forming a rigid brown set punctuated by seven white discs in snail shells. The collar has a wire attachment system to hold it around the neck. This type of necklaces was worn by women. See "A Tharake couple"; "A Meru girl" in A. Fedders, C. Salvaldori. 1980: 126; 128.
