Container / Snuffbox. Giriyama. Kenya. No. 9. XI.E.20. Original list: "Giriama. Snuff box. Leather, beads, cow horn. Man, woman, elder, warrior, chief"; TM 332; DM 35. Portable snuff box made from a thin section of animal horn, delicately adorned with small blue, white, red and black glass beads, then endowed with a sort of protruding wick connected by an iron chain to a cloth cap. The object is also provided with a long iron grip chain. Containers of this type, commonly called "snuff box" were very often hunting trophies and prestigious objects which may contain snuff, but also other substances such as gunpowder, herbs or powders medicinal.
