Container Snuffbox. Taita. Kenya. No 7. XIV.CC.2. Original list: "Taita. Snuff Box. Leather, cow horn, aluminiun, iron. Man, elder, warrior" Small portable container made from a fragment of animal horn, wrapped in leather; plated with iron and aluminum, ending at the end of the lamp, then provided, in the upper part, with a calabash stopper covered with leather topped with a braided ansette. The base of the horn is flanked by two small iron rams. The object smells of tobacco leaf. Base object. Containers of this type, commonly known as "snuff boxes" were often hunting trophies and prestigious objects that may contain snuff, but also other substances such as gunpowder or medicinal herbs.
